The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre has indicated that a trough of low pressure ( AlAtaya ) is expected to affect the Sultanate from today till Monday, May 10. Varying intensity rain occasionally thundershowers associated with fresh to very fast winds and hail over Musandam governorate and Al Hajar Mountains and surroundings extend to the coastal areas of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Muscat and South Al Sharqiya and flash floods (wadis) are expected and chances of isolated rain over parts of Al Wusta governorate. Chances of blowing dust and flying of unstable objects due to wind, the report said.

Muscat: The trough of low pressure (AlAtaya) is expected to affect the Sultanate from Friday, 7th May till Monday, 10th May 2021, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced in the report.

The Federal Ministry of Health has said no fewer than 417,918 asthmatic deaths occurred in 2016 out of over 339 million people battling with the disease globally as Nigeria yet to have nationally representative data on the lung disease.

Heavy to moderate rains lashed parts of the Sultanate on Friday. Heavy rains, accompanied by thunderstorms, drenched several areas around Al Hajar Mountains and Al Dhahirah deserts, Dhofar mountains and the surrounding areas. Aerial satellite image showed cumulus clouds in the skies, resulting in the rain.
The Met department has warned of a decrease in horizontal visibility.
The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre’s weather analysis indicated that the Sultanate would be affected by a trough of low pressure (Al Khair Trough) between April 29 and May 1.
There is a possibility for rains of varying intensity, thunderstorms, accompanied by active winds and hail in most of the governorates of the Sultanate.
